So not to wander off in too many directions at once, I would like to focus on how you interpret the mind/brain relationship. This relationship can be described in one of three ways:

1. The mind IS the brain. The terms are logically equivalent and interchangeable.

2. The brain CAUSES the mind. The mind, while not a physical thing itself, is wholly caused and determined by brain’s physical states.

3. The mind and brain are SEPARATE realities. Neither one causes the other, but they do interact.

Clearly your reject option 3. You appear to reject option 1 as well, agreeing it would be absurd to identify the brain and its physical parts as the very conscious states themselves.

This would seem to leave option 2 as your position on the mind/brain relationship. Am I correct in uming this is your view?
