Correct.

If your present brain were made of an entirely different set of atoms, but the configuration was the same, it would have the same first-person consciousness...yours. It would in every sense still be YOUR brain.

Let me try to clarify what I mean with an ogy. Say you have an apple. You take a replicator and make an atom-for-atom copy of it. Now, is the second apple the first apple? In a sense, yes, because they are exactly alike. Yet, by having a separate, independent physical existence, i.e., identity, the second apple is NOT the first apple.

It is the same with a person, except unlike an apple, a human being contains a consciousness. Yes, in a sense, that is me in there, because there would be no way to tell us apart, but I'm still here, and THAT John is not ME. When you create a new physical entity, you've created a separate identity with the exact same features.
