I owe replies to the both of you, and I will post them soon, but quickly I just want to interject that it appears John has made the point he's trying to argue against.
Examining Johns syllogism closely, and giving it some minor corrections/additions, I find this:
1. A car is made up of its parts
2. A part does not move without an energy source
3. Therefore a car needs an energy source (separate from it's parts) to make it move
It also needs intelligence for it's design and it's use!
Turning the newly revised syllogism against John, though uming we don't know it's an "energy source," it reads:
1. A car is made up of it's parts
2. A part does not move
3. Therefore the parts need something other than themselves to make them move
The energy source here is in a sense ogous to (not completely synonymous with, as John apparently tried to make it) the soul or immaterial I which is not completely bound by it's body.
Jesse
PS, my apologies to you John if I have misread your comments.
