I do not know if this will come as any help to you, but in reading Franklin's autobiography i saw an inconsistency in his views on religion. He truly beleived in the fact that a higher providence gave helped him to attain his succsess and his vanity, yet he never specified as to which. he just believed in the moral that mankind should do good to mankind and would be rewarded for virtue or vice versa. Here is a quote that may come as some use: "I never doubted, for instance, the existence of Diety, that he made the world and governed it by his providence, that the most acceptable service of God was doing good to man, that our souls are immortal, and that all crime will be punished and virtue rewarded either here or thereafter.
