: Madame defarge is an intense character. She is bent on revenge because the Evrémonde brothers (the father and uncle) d and killed her sister, and killed her brother and then her father died of heartbreak after hearing about it. After reading the book, seeing an old movie of the book and discussing it with my humanities cl, we feel that madame defarge is dangerous, cold, calculating, and evil. : As a cl we made a chart of every character's characteristics, this is some of what came up for her: : quiet authority : smart : very observant : dangerous : manipulative : cunning : sinister : : we also felt that her role in the story was one of rage and revenge : : Hope this isn't too late and I hope that it is some help. : P.S.
