: : : I live in New Castle Kentucky. My husband and myself have just inherited the last bit left of our family's farm. My Mother in law is the great great niece of John Hunt Morgan and our family is also kin to Light Foot Lee, Guy Parto, and William Clark Quantrell. Two Battles were fought here on our property and our home is over 100 years old. Here is our problem. Our town is very dirty and a man by the name of Ray Poll has bought most of our farm from my sister in law after she stole it from my Grandmother when she died last spring. He now wants to put in a subdivision in but needs our homestead to do so. He has now worked a deal with the city trying to push us out. They are wanting us to sell the city our property to put up a water tower, which in turn will allow this man to buy the remaining 3 arces so that he can develop the area. This area that he wants to develope is the existing battle ground and the last thing we want is for it to be developed. I have already spoken with the Kentucky Heritage Counsel about our problem and I as of this time in the works to get our home on the Historical state registery so that we can share the rich history of our area with everyone. The city here is telling us if we do not sell they will condemn our property and take it and we do not want this to happen because this area will be lost forever. The Heritage counsel has informed me to write to them to bring up the concern for the area and they told me the more people that write them the better. So please, if you want to help, write them. Let them know that people care and they we do not want to see any of our states lose anymore history. " : : yes you do have a problem you might try to get people to sign a petition to see if the people around would want to have a subdivision or historical landmark of the civil war by the way i think...and hope...mmost people would want to save your property good luck i wish there was more i could do
