Liberal has a very different meaning in Britain. Churchill was rather conservative, if you look at what he said about how Britain should be administered post war (no nationalising of industries or of British Rail).
Likely the word he used was communism, but he didn't much care for ordinary socialists either, no matter how well he treated them during war- "If Hitler had invaded Hell then I would have at least made a positive reference to the Devil."
