"The Black Cat" is a very interesting Poe story, and rather brief and easier to read than many. Also, it will tie in quite nicely to the more famous story "Tell-Tale Heart." In both of these short stories, a brutal murder is done, and in both the teller of the tale, the murderer, claims he is not mad, but obviously is.
The poem "The Raven" will tie in well with the themes of these stories if you approach that poem as a piece about a man who has killed his wife and is now sentenced to Hell, which is the chamber where he will forever be tormented by the raven. Again, is the man mad? He thinks not. What do we think? (Check the link I left for some commentary on the meaning of this poem, if you wish.)
Finally ... if you need only one story, there is a piece called "Hop-Frog" which is off the beaten track but makes for an excellent read, even for junior high school students. Try this strange tale of the mistreated dwarf who gets his revenge in a most cruel way against the obese king and his counselors.
Any questions, post back.
