: I need help on my coursework title even though I chose it!!
I'll help you if you help me. First, you. I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean Gatsby's past in the work or Daisy's past? If so, I guess I would think about the way their past decisions influence them in the work. Can they, do they revisit the past? Also I would think about Nick's girlfriend, the golfer. How does the decision she made as a young woman influence their whole relationship? On a broad level, you might consider whether the decisions these characters make in isolated moments are really their own decisions at all. Is man controlled by cirstance?
On the other hand, you might mean Fitzgerald's use of the " past" as in time period. Fitzgerald is very conscious of his own time period and invokes the social climate in his work. For example, what is happening in the twenties' that influences the character's decisions? If you are very ambitious, you might try drawing a correlation between Gatsby's " dispays" and the ideas in Thorstein Veblens Theory of the Lesiure Cl. You might also talk about how Daisy's behavior as a a single woman and as a wife is influenced by women's movements in the twenties and such.
If you are still reading, I need a favor as well. I am looking for information about the writing proces. Could you send me something about what you like to read, how you write, something along those lines. It doesn't have to be anything long. Could you tell me your age as well. That is all the personal info I need. Thanks!
