: Tom and Daisy are those kind of people who got married because it seemed like the fashionable thing to do. They have nothing in common and now their marrage is falling apart. I don't believe Daisy ever really loved him to begin with. She was just dazzled by him at first. Tom is athletic and handsome, but he is also arrogant. He wants to be adored out of vanity. Daisy is beautiful and flighty and impulsive. She is the epitome of women in the 20's. There is something so tragic in her character. She is, essentially, based on Zelda.
