to want to better yourself, or what you think will be bettering yourself? gatsby had an ideal and was willing to do whatever it took to reach that
he disciplined himself so completely and was so totally focused that he managed to work himself up out of what he considered to be a dung heap, and became his picture of the ideal man.
he got everything he set out to get.
why does anyone have to be content with who they are?
what is the point of life if growth and progression are considered weakness?
