It pains me to see that this is all you have to say about such a great man and his work- that he wont come out of his house and blah blah blah. I wish I knew his address. I wish i could call im up on the phone and tell him how amazing his work is- im sure hes heard it hundreds of thousands of times before. I wish it were that simple. I thought that he was dead at first- I mean, it seemed like a long time from then until now. It made me really depressed actually. I was looking to order 9 stories and i stumbled across this. I dont know why i came here- maybe the same reason you did- i dont know. I Just wish that i could tell Mr. Salinger he is a true genius on every aspect of human life. I dont even know what i would say to the man if i had the chance... hes just one of those people I'd like to sit on a porch and have tea with. I truly find him to be so magnificent that i cant explain in words how i feel about these books- I dont think i want to. He taught me that you dont nessecarily have to. His characters did at least. I dont know if id write to him if i could even- he wouldnt open my mail just as he wouldnt open yours. Maybe he does? Maybe not. His books are just so amazing... so perfect- so understandable. I dont like them because the whole literary system says they are "clics" or what not! I liked them because I saw "Catcher in the Rye" sitting on my dining room table- picked it up and decided i couldnt put it down. I dont understand why some company decides what makes a good book! I dont understand how you people can sit there, being the type of people that he directly critisizes through his work as well as himself. When holden didnt like you, well, he came right out and told you. GOD! Are you people blind? Cant you be satisfied!? Open a book and look at whats right in front of you! pick up a book! Its the books that you love! He might be a completely different character than you think! Dont expect him to jump right out of the cover and call himself- "BUDDY" or "ZOOEY". You dont know how much this completely frustrates me. I hate seeing his name plastered on 50 websites- probably even more than he. It truly bothers me, it does. It ruins it for people like me- what i dont know, but somwhere inside, it does. It makes me want to cry. You arent like me. I know you arent. Leave him alone.
