RE: Nine Stories
Each of the stories were all connected somehow. The Charaters all tended to use objects as vessels for their emotions. In The 'the painter one ' (De Daumier Smith) De daumier smith is extremely depressed because his mother has jsut ped away. Which refers to the title because the title is De Daumier Smith's Blue Period. In the story DDS often refers to Picaso as being a family friend and there was a period of Pico's life where he was very depressed and painted eveything in blue. The story is about a nineteen year doing normal nineteen year old soul seraching. We see thi when he arrives in New York and out of the 18 paintings he paints while in his hotel room 17 of them are self portraits. DDS is seen verymuch as a child beause he pretends to be an adult but in hte end goes back to being a normal 19 yr old while watching the All America Girl In Shorts! In General all of the stories are about people realizing different things. If you go back and pay careful attention to the stories you will find what each person found in te stories.
