: the most prevelent similarity between cathcher in the rye and franny and zoey is the people that it deals with. throughout catcher holden talks about certin types of people. "phonies" as he would call them. in franny and zoey the book starts out dealing with those people. her boyfriend is a quintessential example of a "phonie". after that point she starts to back away from that culture all together. while they are eating the is something obviosly wrong with her pertaining to he boyfriend. throughout the rest of the book she is rebelling from that just as holden was doing on his venture from school.
