HI christain imagery araby is rife. It can firstly be seen through the ironic use of the priest - the priest is undermined if you look closely as the memoirs of vidocq is actually a book. In addition, the wild garden is a reference to the garden of eden and the fact that he is charitable is sarcasm as he only leaves his furniture to his sister. The 'priest' can actually be seen as a metonym for spirituality in this story.
