I need to submit an essay on sense and sensiblity very soon and i've got 4 essay questions choosing from, but im not sure which questions to pick.
Here are the questions,
1, "i do not attempt to deny.. that i think very highly of him - that i greatly esteem, that i like him"
How typical of Elinor and any other characters in the novel are the social attitudes shown here? What problems do such attitudes case for them ?
2, In the early part of the novel Mrs. Jennings seems to show little sense or sensibility, yet by the end both Elinor and Marianne respect her, How do you explain this and how does it relate to the themes of the novel ?
3, Suppose that Lucy kept a private personal diary in which she wrote about the other characters in the novel.
i, Imagine you are Lucy. Write an entry following the morning when Edward surprised you by interrupting your visit to Elinor.
ii, Explain why you have written the entry in the way that you have.
4, Do you find the ending of the novel optimistic or pessimistic ?
