: Locke believes that a person begins a property by mixing his labor with it. Sir Robert Filmer suggested that only a sovereign ruler, descended directly from Adam has a right to property. Locke argues that God gave the world to all men in common and he intended man to use it to survive. With the advent of a congregated society, people bgan to use money. People are naturally greedy, but before the advent of currency, they had no need to more property than they could use. Anything that they collected could spoil and thus would go to waste. Money was a permanent way in which man could sell his labour in exchange for another person's labor, thus appropriating property.
