This is quoted "In 1557, while in exile in Geneva, Switzerland, a clergyman, John Calvin, isted by a handful of Englishmen who had fled the persecution of Bloody Mary(Mary Stuart, King James I's mother)undertook to translate the complete bible into English. Their 1st edition was printed in 1560 and it contained thousands of marginal notes.Calvin's bible, out of print since 1644, was the bible of choice for Oliver Cromwell , John Milton, and the pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620. Shakespeare quoted Calvin's bible more than 5,000 times in his plays. Frm. 1560 to 1644 Calvin's bible went thru 200 printings. It was replaced by the King James version." Cont'd...........
