I am the daughter of parents who are now 54. They are true babyboomers who were in their teens and early 20's during the mid to late 60's. I am 32, born late in the year of 1968. When I graduated from college in 1992, the movie "Reality Bites" was being produced and marked my generation, generation x. I thought the movie portrayed us and our attitudes fairly accurately. Now that I am in my early 30's with the new millenium, I have noticed that generation x continues to encomp younger people and those of us who have reached our first milestone birthday, have been bumped out of generation x. I recently read a newspaper article stating that x'rs are between the ages of 18 and 29. What happened to the original definition that defined x'rs as those born between 1965 and 1976? Do we hit 30 and disappear into some lost generation? We are ignored by advertisers and politicians. In my opinion, if someone wasn't growing up during the Reagan years and the movies "The Breakfast Club" and "Pretty in Pink" and Debbie Gibson don't mean anything, than you are not of generation X. Anyone who is 24 and under presently is Generation Y.
