That has got to be the stupidest response ever.
What about when you were a child and your mom said that she didn't think you should do something.
With that and your above thought - believing in your mother would be saying that you don't believe in free will.

i'm sure what matt meant was that god, a supposedly omnipotent being, would know the future and all that it holds. believing in this god, would entail believing that he knows the future, and that you cannot change what he knows. therefore, you cannot change the future. thus, free will would not exist. believing in your mother, not an omniscient being by far, does not constitute that which would eliminate the possibility of free will.
