:Dear ann-marie,
It is quite sad to see someone giving such a dissenting opinion of an american clic such as Fahrenheit 451 without giving any reason why. I would love to hear your reasoning behind your statements. Personally I felt that 451 was a beautifully crafted piece of work not only in figurative language, but in social commentary also. Bradbury's ertions on censorship (i.e. the burning books) are staggeringly relevant considering today's society. In Bradbury's words: "Students, reading the novel which, after all, deals with censorship and book-burning in the future, wrote to tell me of the exquisite irony" of editors having "censored some 75 seperate sections from the novel" (Fahrenheit 451, 177). Obviously you were not one of those students who pointed this out, otherwise you might respect this book a little more.
If you would like to read an intelligent ysis of Fahrenheit 451 please go to http://kickamix.com/members/Electronica/atomicweek/451.htm
Sincerely,
Nathan Saperia, 11th grade Bancroft School.
