One of the most famous of all the sonnets, and one of the most beaautiful in its language:
Here's a rough paraphrase:
When I settle back into those quiet moments of reflection and reminisce about the past, my mind conjures up memories of all those things I have desired and never gotten, and these old regrets make me wail anew about how I have wasted my life. And I'll cry (something I don't often do) as I recall the loss of precious friends who have died, as their memories opens old wounds. And I regret the many things we never got to do together, the many things I've never gotten to see. And all these griefs pile up upon me, and I weep in sadness as if I had never done so before.
But ... if I happen to think of you, dear friend, all my griefs and wants and regrets disappear; I have all I need and my sorrows end.
