:the oldest church is not mention is the bible BUT IF WE ALL WOULD GO BACK TO THE FIRST IT WOULD BE LOVELY, I THINK IT STARTED IN THE ACTS 2 but i did find the one you mentioned has 45 changes in it such as TRINITY, GOD THE SON, GOD THE HOLY GHOST ETERNAL SONSHIP, QUESTION WHY DIDN'T THE APOSTLES EVER BAPTIZED ANYONE USING THE WORDS FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST ?? I THINK THE NAME OF THE FATHER IS LORD, THE NAME OF THE SON IS JESUS AND THE NAME OF THE HOLY GHOST IS CHRIST THE ANOINTED THEREFORE THE NAME {SINGLAR] WAS LORD JESUS CHRIST ZECHARIAH 14:9 IN THAT DAY THERE SHALL BE ONE LORD AND HIS NAME {SINGLAR] O N E.
ETC. ARE NOT BIBLICAL TERMS. I THINK IF THEY WERE FIRST THEY SHOULD STICK WITH THE SCRIPTURES
THANK FOR LISTENING LOVE YOU ALL TED tedfrizzell@home.com
: : Catholocism is the oldest church because it is the
: : original church from when the apostles were sent
: : to teach and spread Christianity. The division into
: : denominations is courtesy of man and man's inability
: : to compromise. People break away from their church
: : and start their own denominaion for when they cannot
: : find one that, in their opinion, suits them.
: : In general, they are all Christian, and all share the
: : fundamental belief that Christ is Lord and Savior.
: The Terms "Christian" and "Catholic" were invented, by the Faithful,in the Church of Antioch. During the first 1000 years there was not such thing as the Roman Catholic Church. Fact is that title did not even come about til around Vatican 1. You will not find in any text before the Great Schism of 1054 AD any thing refering to a Roman Catholic Church. In the beginning the Church consisted of five Patriarchal centers, not one. The first was Jerusalem. Then came Antioch, Alexandria, Byzantium (later renamed to Constantinople) and Rome. As for who left whom, or who left the Church, or who divided away from the Church (schism), it depends on which side of the Fence one lives on. Being that North America and most of western Europe is within the realms of the Church of Rome (including those places taken by force by the Church of Rome), the history is only from a roman catholic view and even some history books I have read that speak about Church History do not even mentioned the Eastern Patriarchates or if they do they relabel them as being Roman Catholic. So in the West the term "Catholic" equates to someone that is "Roman Catholic". OR for the most part that is how it is placed in the largest majority of peoples minds. People really need to know their Church History before making statements like thos made above. Also another mistake is when people see the Western Church and the Eastern Churches as being seperate throughout the history of the New Testament Church. Up to the events which led to the Great Schism in the 11th century there was not an Eastern Orthodox Church nor was there a Roman Catholic Church. There was just the Church. There was no Pope, or denominations. The Patriarchates of the Church are not denominations as some have taught them to be. There was more then One Patriarchate as found in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Patriarchate of Antioch and the Patriarchate of Russia (converted in the year 988 AD), etc etc etc. All bishops were equal and not one over the other. Just like the Senate of the USA. Senators have say over their own jurisdiction and not over another Senators jurisdiction. But they have a person that speaks for the whole group. Even though he has a special privilage of speaking for the group he still has zero authority over anothers jurisdiction, only over his own State. Same was true and still is True for the Church. Not one Archbishop had authority over anothers jurisdiction. Infact it is in Canon Law. It is also Canon that to cause a schism within the Church is a Sin. When the Patriarchate of Rome sent the Bull of Excommunication to the Church of Holy Wisdom, and had the cardinal lay it on the altar during Sunday Worship, that very act was the straw that broke the camels back and caused th Great Schism within the Church between the WEstern Patriarchate and the Patriarchates found in the East.
: As for the past few hundred years and the spread of sects and cults within the Western world. These all stem from the Church of Rome. In the Roman Church you can go back ten years and it will be different, go back 20 years and it will be different, again go back 60 years and it will not look the same. Now lets go back 1000 years and it will be even more alien. Within what has become known as the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church you can go back 100 years, 500 years, 1500 years, etc etc etc and it will be the same Faith.
