: I am wondering whether or not I may have a first edition of the above named book. The full title is: the "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: The Astronomer-Poet of Persia, Rendered into English Verse by Edward Fitzgerald, with an Accompaniment of drawings by Elihu Vedder" It was published by Houghton Mifflin. It is folio size: 13 1/2" by 16". It is illustrated with 56 lithographs drawn by Vedder. At the back of the book, on the artist's signature page, Vedder notes that the work was "Commenced in May 1883, Finished mARCH 1884, in Roma" It has an elaborate binding, the cover was designed by Vedder, and is embossed and highlighted in gold leaf.
