Hello, Below is some things on the culture of Moors- Hope it helps!

Othello is Moorish, Moors are Moslim persons of Northwest Africa. The word Moor comes from Mauri which was the name given by the Romans to the inhabitants of Maurentania.
The Moorish Arabs were asked by a ruler in southern spain to help him in a rebellion against king Roderick of Spain. They conquered Gibralter, defeated Roderick and by 711 overan all Southern Spain. The Moors then established themselves in Spain, and set up a kingdom there.
Under the Moors, Spain became the most civilised country in Europe.
They introduced the study of Astronomy, Geography, Chemistry, and natural History.
The Spaniards eventually reconquered there country and by 1610 Moors were completely driven out of Spain.
Moorish men are handsome, fine-featured, bearded and distiguished in appearence. Their manner is polite but beneath lies a strain of brutality.
(If you need help thinking about what a moor might look like, I suggest you rent Robin Hood: Prince of Theives, as Morgan Freeman plays a Moorish person in the film and is very well characatured)

The Barbery Pirates were Moors, and during the 16th and 17th century's they preyed on European shipping off the North African coast, with brutalistic cruelty. Any sailor captured by the pirates was eiter put to death, or made to toil for the rest of their life, at the oars of the pirate craft called the Galleys. The Barbery pirates practised slavery for 300 years, and their slave markets survived untill about 1850 when they were closed under pressure from European Countries.
