I am writing a paper based on the character of tamora. my argument is about the motivation of Shakespeare to include so many inconsistancies in Tamora's character; for example- begging for the life of one son in act 1 and wanting to kill the son she had with aaron the moor later in the play. I am looking at two reasons why she is like this... 1) this play was written in Shakespeares early days as a playwrite, there can be no argument that it is more simplistic and less philisophical in comparisson to his later works. is shakespeare's niavete to blame? was it simply porr character development? or 2) is Tamora an early example of Shakespeares ability to create complex and realistic characters (even if the play isnt as mature)? did shakespeare intend for her to be an actress of sorts, and is she always acting a role in the play?
i dont really know which side of the argument i am going to support yet, and any input, thoughts or arguments you have would be helpful!
